What you're booking

A room of your own, not a rope

Search bars with private rooms in NYC and most of what comes back is a rope and a reserved sign, with the rest of the bar carrying on three feet away. That's not what this is. Each of our private lounges is a room of its own, with its own bar and its own bartender standing behind it. Every private room bar is stocked and staffed on its own, so your people never wait in line behind strangers.

Private lounge, NYC, no rental fee — that's the whole pitch. There are three, they hold about 40, 50 and 60, and we can run all three on the same night, each with its own bar and bartender. The lounge rental part is where we're different: there isn't one. You book a session, you hit a bar minimum, the room's yours. For most groups that lands under what a venue charges for the space before anyone's ordered a drink — which is why people looking for cheap private party rooms in NYC usually end up doing the math twice.

Most private event spaces in NYC are empty boxes you fill yourself — you rent the room, then hire a bartender, then find the sound. Ours arrive finished: bar, bartender, TV, projector and Bluetooth in every one. That's the difference between party room rentals in NYC and what we do, and it's why people comparing the best private rooms in NYC usually stop comparing once they see there's no room charge.

We're at 77 East 7th, between First and Second. The 6 at Astor Place, the L at First Avenue, the F at Second — everybody gets here on a train. And it's the East Village, so half your group will want dinner first and the other half will want one more somewhere after. Both are a block away.

Questions

Renting a private room, straight answers

Is B Lounge NYC available to rent for private parties?

Yes. Three private party rooms, and all three are available to rent: the Back Room for about 40 guests, the Whiskey Cellar for about 50 and the B Lounge for about 60. Each one has its own bar and its own bartender; the Back Room and the Whiskey Cellar close off behind a door, and the B Lounge is the main-floor room. There's no rental fee, and a refundable deposit holds the date.

How much does it cost to rent a private room in NYC?

Most bars with private rooms in NYC charge for the room and then charge again at the bar. We skip the first part. You book a session and hit a bar minimum: $700 Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday in any room. Friday and Saturday, the first session (4:30-8:30 PM) in the Back Room or Whiskey Cellar runs $500; the second is $1,400 in the Back Room and $1,900 in the Whiskey Cellar; the B Lounge is $1,700 for a flexible session. Drink past the minimum and you just pay for the drinks.

Are these free private rooms, or is there a catch?

No catch, and no room charge. What people mean when they search for NYC bars with free private rooms is exactly this: you're not renting square footage, you're spending at the bar. If your group was going to drink anyway, the room costs you nothing extra.

Can we bring our own cake or catering?

Yes, and it's free. No cakeage fee, no catering fee. Bring a cake, bring candles, bring a full spread from the block. We handle the drinks.

Where in the East Village are you, and which train?

77 East 7th Street, between First and Second. A short walk from the 6 at Astor Place, the L at First Avenue and the F at Second Avenue — most people get here without a cab. 21 and over with valid ID, every room has a full bar.
