The Back Room: a Private Party Room for 40 Guests

Our most-booked room. Black tile, a crystal chandelier, tufted banquettes and a bar of its own — behind a door at the end of the corridor.

The Back Room at B Lounge NYC, a private back room bar with a crystal chandelier and its own bar

Why this room

A private back room, not a corner of the bar

Walk past the main bar, down the corridor with the neon Back Room sign, and the door closes behind you. What's on the other side is yours for the session: black-tiled walls, a crystal chandelier over the floor, tufted leather banquettes along the sides and a bar of its own in the corner. Most places that sell a private back room bar in NYC give you a curtain and a reserved sign. This is a real room, with its own bartender working only for your group.

It is sized for 20 to 40 people, which is exactly why it is our most-booked room. A group of thirty fills it — the room never reads half-empty, the music carries, and everyone ends up in the same conversation. It is the birthday party room people come back to for their next birthday, and the one teams pick for a night out that shouldn't feel like the office.

The projector screen drops down from the ceiling when you need it — for a slideshow of the person turning 30, a toast video, or the game — and goes back up when the playlist takes over. Bring the cake, the balloons and the banner; "happy birthday" letters strung across the tile wall are a regular sight in here.

Questions

The Back Room, straight answers

How many people fit in the Back Room?

It is a private party room for 40 guests standing, with banquette and table seating for around 25. Groups of 20 to 40 fill it without it ever feeling empty. For 45 or more, the Whiskey Cellar or the B Lounge is the better fit.

What does the Back Room cost?

There is no room fee. You meet a minimum spend on drinks for the session: $500 for the first Friday or Saturday session (4:30 to 8:30 PM), $1,400 for the second (9 PM to 1 AM), and $700 for a flexible session of up to four hours on Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday. Tax is included, gratuity is not. A refundable deposit holds the date and comes back after the event.

Does the Back Room have its own bar and bartender?

Yes. The Back Room has its own bar and a dedicated bartender for your session, so your group never queues behind another party. Guests can open their own tabs by card and every drink counts toward the minimum.

Can we show photos or watch the game in the Back Room?

Yes. The room has a pull-down projector screen and Bluetooth sound, so you can run a birthday slideshow, a presentation or the game, then switch to your own playlist.

Can we decorate and bring our own cake?

Yes. Balloons, banners and table decorations are welcome; glitter, confetti and sparklers are not. Bring your own cake, snacks or full catering at no extra charge. Folding tables and refrigerator space are available.
